The Bar Council of Gujarat is the Autonomous Statutory Body constituted under The
Advocates Act, 1961 with wide varied powers, functions and duties. The Bar Council
of Gujarat is required to discharge statutory duties under the Advocates Act, 1961.
The General Board of the Bar Council of Gujarat has resolved and constituted the
Gujarat Bar Council Advocates Academy (GBCAA) for the purpose of achieving the object
of Continued Legal Education (CLE) for the Advocates in the State of Gujarat in
association with Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar (GNLU).
The Committee is constituted by the Bar Council of Gujarat comprising of the Chairman,
BCG, Vice-Chairman, BCG and two other members of BCG and three faculty members nominated
For the functioning of the Gujarat Bar Council Advocates Academy, is beginned by
arranging short courses at the premises of Gujarat National Law University at Gandhinagar
or / and by arranging one day workshop and seminars at the District or Taluka place
in weekends. Different subjects will be taken.
The criteria for imparting continuous legal education in the GBCAA, the policy is
made for the purpose for mainly the Advocates who are practice up to five years
will be eligible to be the participants.
As there are five zones namely 1. Central Zone 2. East Zone, 3. North Zone, 4. South
Zone and 5. West Zone. The forthcoming lectures of the academy will be followed
The lectures would be delivered by some prominent Hon’ble Judges as well as lawyers
in association with faculty members of the Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar.
The Bar Council of Gujarat has inaugurated GUJARAT BAR COUNCIL ADVOCATES ACADEMY
in association with Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar on Saturday 12th
September, 2009 at Gujarat Advocate High Court Association Complex, Ahmedabad. The
function inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice K. S. Radhakrishnan, Chief Justice,
High Court of Gujarat in the presence of Hon’ble Dignitaries.
